Space Cruiser, 1989, Automatic

OK, New water pump, new belts, new thermostat, new radiator cap, flushed with so special stuff to clean it out. No leaks, now white smke, no water in the oil. Starts first time every time, engine sweet as a purring cat. 30 miles and it seems ok, but no, the temperature gauge climbs until just below the red mark. So I stop, bubbling and gurgling is heard - water is coming out of the expansion tank overflow pipe, the engine off, ignition on, temperature gauge goes in to the red, shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh sound as it all comes out of the expansion tank overflow. Flushed all through so many times, reckon thames water will be sending me a bill. Anyone please got any clues what I do now.

Hi David,

sounds like blowing head gaskit but might not be,
with engine cold and rad cap off on start up is the water forced out of the rad neck if it is then its your gaskit or a crack in the head,i had a crack in my head and it was going across the outlet valve into water jacket,it over pressurized my cooling system with water coming out of the ex/bottle and i damaged my rad.

you can get a gas test to your cooling system by a garage who could confirm head problems
