May be worth phoning the local trade autofactors with the part number for cross referencing

Hi chris

thanks for your reply ,, have tried this but no luck. local factors want the bearing number which is actually on the bearing but the bearing is on the car ?? the toyoto part number does not cross reference..

any over thoughts would be welcomed
thanks

Try the number without the T at the front. Upper steering bearing yes?
Fits lots of Toyota models so they should be able to source it quickly.

hmmm, the toyota dealer should be able to tell you which other models the part number fits.
are scrappies an option for the bearing number?
or if toyota have one in stock, maybe they could impart the bearing number?
pigs may also be able to fly, but its worth asking?......

Hi Chris

thanks for your reply and you were pigs can fly ,,, dealers a big no ,, no,,

ive spoken to a local bearings factor who said they could supply if i had the bearing number ,, so i think i will ask the garage to remove the faulty one and try my look ,, if the worst happens ill have to order it from the dealers """ YAK """

oh they wornt tell me which other car takes the same bearing ,,,,, bloody sods

Also used in various other Toys of the same era (80-90, with tilting column). Corolla, Carina, Liteace, Townace, Spacecruiser, Hilux, Landcriuiser...

Hi Dave

Thanks for your email. Well cut a long story short ,, as my mot was due to run out yesterday i went back to the garage and explained my dilemma ,,, after a short chat and a promise on my part that i would see to the bearing asap they passed the mot. lucky me,,, actually they are freinds of mine which helped a little ,, so alls well that ends well ..

Hi Andy

Thanks for your help Andy. Assuming the bearing is the same that would be great ,,, thanks ,,, is it a big job ,, do you know how one takes the steering wheel of ,, and is there a particular way of removing and replacing the bearing.

Thanks for any info .

steering wheel should be easy. Horn push either clips on or has a couple of screws from the back, then there's a nut holding the wheel...

Bearing might be more hassle, I'd guess the column will have to come out for the shaft to be withdrawn, but don't quote me on that.
