How can I slow down an automatic engine using engine breaking. In a manual for example I would do so by reducing the gears.

David, thank you for your prompt response. However I would further appreciate to know the use of 2 or L under normal circumstances. I only got my auto Masterace 1991 4WD in January and had never driven an auto before.

basicily the l and 2 are lower gears with more power if you are towing or need to drive at a slower speed like down steep hills etc
