(Home) Cylinder head, buying replacement

I need a recon cylinderhead for a 1991 townace 2000 turbo-diesel. Whats a reasonable price to pay for one and where can I get one resonably quickly?

Hello John,
last year I got one from www.ukcylinderheads.co.uk It cost £400 plus delivery plus vat. BBC spares also do them at a similar price. You will need a new gasket set and its your choice on fitting new bolts. These are also available from uk cylinder heads and BBC spares.
Delivery from uk cylinder heads was next day.

Yes I have used this crew too and was pleased with their delivery and service, oh yeah the head looked really good too. Heartily recommend.

Personally I would prefer to replace the bolts but if you read the manual they say as long as they are within certain limits they can be reused, but 38 quid for a 500 odd quid job is spoiling a good ship for a ha'pporth of tar.

i think £400 is to much !!
i got a replacement head from a breaker here in ni, off a diesel camry for £117 just before christmas.
even the breakers i phoned in exchange a mart were quoting figures of only £150 - £200.

For a head with a years warranty? All machined and cleaned and tested, compared to how much for a secondhand one out of a breakers with no warranty?
