(Home) Receiver drier removal

Hi All

my air con man looked at my receiver drier and almost gave birth,he said the job would take a good half day as the floor pan and rad have to come out he said that most cars its only a small job but these jap jobs are like they are in for the life of the car 5 yrs and then they export them to us.

my question is , has any one renewed the receiver drier on a 4x4 masterace 1989,if so can it be done underneath the car or do you need to take out floor pan and top rad.

Dennis,

You have mail,

the floor definately DOES NOT need to come out, I've changed mine twice, the bracket could anchor the QE2 admittedly, but it does come out the bottom of the car.

In fact, was he even looking at the RD, the RD is mounted next to the front left wheel, the bracket is bolted inside of the chassis rail, so no where near the removable floor.

Regards Rob.

Rob, it's only 4x4 autos that have it there. If Dennis drives a 5speed, the r/d is crammed up in front of the rad, above/ behind the condenser...

but dennis does say he has a 4wd ........

Yes, but not whether it's manual or auto. Check on the cd, the a/c differs between 4x4 auto and manual, with the extra rad etc...

Well in that case the receiver/ dryer should be a doddle...
