hi i hope some body could help me i have a 1988 space cruiser, just bought it engine coughs and splutters and loses power if you take you foot off the accelerator for a mo then back on it sorts the problem out for a few mins. it is using an amazing amout of petrol for any journey.

Fuel blockage somewhere or air leak at manifold. Check fuel filter first.

thanks for that info we have checked and found a stud miising off the exhaust manifold this seems to have cleared up most of the problem.
was also wondering if any could help with a carberettor query, should the flap on the second opening (not the choke one) be closed at all times.
