(Home) How do I get into the front lights

Please help with this frustrating problem! We don't have the usual townie, ours is a low grade japanese taxi - 2wd, manual, 2.2 diesel. The headlight/sidelight units are embedded in a black plastic panel which goes from one side to the other and has the Toyota logo in the middle. Apparently, more akin to a LiteAce.
Question is - how on earth am I supposed to get it all apart to change a bulb in the side light!! It has defeated me and also 2 of our local garages!
Hope you can help - John

If you can't find any screws it must be on push fit type clips. My Townace has a mixture of screws and push fitting. These are plastic you have to be very careful as you prise it off. They are held on very tight and it can take some force to make it move!
Do you have an access panel from within the cabin?

Mine is certainly a mixture of screws and clips. I've worked out how to get the indicator assemblies off - you prise of a little plastic cover by the door hinge and take out a screw and then slide the assemblies forward. You can then look in through the side of the headlamp assembly and start uncliping some of the clips that hold the end of the black plastic facia on.
My guess is that if I could find the courage to put alot of force on the facia it might come off but I'm worried I'll break something!
there is no way in from inside the car.

Thanks for trying - John

Panic over...... I managed to get the big black facia off by pulling and pushing in the right places.
If you ever need to do it, take the indicators off as described earlier, prise the clips out that are now exposed, lie underneath and prise apart all the clips you can see at the bottom of the panel. Lastly, you can lever the top of the panel out against the bottom of the steel panel above it.
Crummy design though!!

Thanks for help - John
