(Home) Injector service

I'm thinging of removing the diesel injectors and having them serviced. Anyone have any oidea what the likely cost of this is ?

Are they likely to be in need of this for a 1991 engine with 65k miles or should I leave well alone ?

Hello Jason,
I had mine done last year whilst my head was being replaced and the cost was £100 for the set. The advise given by the specialist was only do this if you have a big smoke problem, it's not something to do frequantly.

Thanks for the Dave

I don't have a smoke problem, but I was concerned that the idle speed a slowed. I can increase it is but the cold start idle is also a bit low.

Is this perhaps a summer thing as I bought it in winter. Do you know if its normal to need adjust the idle speed that often ?

I'm not sure, I haven't had to adjust mine in 18 months. Maybe yours needs a service?
Your not running Clives mwvo are you? thatr might mean it needs a tweak.

I find it's the other way around - MWVO gives a higher tickover and may need turning down.

Dave,

Yes I'm the man running on Clive MVWO, but I'm currently running on normal diesel for the last tank and half

If you have tweaked it down to run wmvo then you use dino diesel, it would make sense that it would need tweaking up again, I guess.

Very true, but I ain't touched it gov! Knowing how complex good injector pump setup is I've not been keen to fiddle with it.

Without giving all to gorry details I've had a few "issues" with the MWVO and my fuel filter clogging. I ended up clearing out the tank and am running on Diesel just to get things happy again.

I noticed the idle drop when I was having problems on MWVO and was hoping to see it return to normal on diesel. As it didn't I was thinking that I might have some crud in the injectors, but the wagon runs fine with no smoke apart from the low idle.

I think I've talked myself into just tweakng the screw up a bit!
