(Home) Sky lite roof

Hi guys, I bought a sky lite roof (seems like the only one available) but it is about 2 inches too tall. Is there any way at all I can cut or shave the extra inches off it?

Do you mean a glass panel? Don't see how, it's toughened glass. Can't you take it back to where you got it and exchange for the correct size? Or get a refund and try BBC Spares who are advertising skylite panels.

Sorry Ian, I got it from England, i'm in Jamaica. Already expensive to get it here. I took for granted that Town Ace and Lite Ace were same size. What can I do?

Rohan. Yep, it looks like you have a Town Ace sky lite. I gather you have a Lite Ace. The Lite Ace is very similar in looks to the Town Ace but is smaller hence the difference in the size of your sky lite. Ian is right, there is nothing that you can do other than obtain the correct sky lite for your Lite Ace. Toughened glass will shatter if you try to grind it or cut it.If the cost of obtaining the correct sky lite is an issue have you thought about fabricating a sky lite from perspex? I do know of someone who did this a few years back before Townies became popular (!?) here in the U.K. after his sky lite was broken by a flying stone kicked up by a truck. Parts were scarce at the time and he was unable to obtain a new sky lite so he made his own. HTH
