i have an '89 (f) masurf 4x4, on the way home from a day out sat, suffered a sudden loss of power, continued to get worse - barely got home,next day not as bad but clearly something wrong- fuel? also my wife noticed tems lights not changing, had a look apears to be some fluid on o/s shock, but i thought they were gas filled? any ideas/suggestions gratefully recieved. jon w

Might be a blocked fuel filter if its such a large drop, you can also check the turbo, and a stuck egr valve (stuck open that is)
The last two would produce a drop in power but the filter would produce a very large drop

Look at the filter first, then for any other blockage. Had you run the tank low or filled with wrong fuel?
TEMS if you are not going fast enough TEMS won't work, the shocks are gas filled but also have oil to seal the gas in.
