(Home) Changing an engine speed sensor

I'm having trouble getting a spanner on to the engine speed sensor on my Townace 2CT injection pump.

Does anybody know if removal of the induction manifold poses any problems? It looks as if access to the sensor will be much easier if it comes off. And are there any special gaskets that I'll have to replace if I remove the manifold?

Well, you're really best to remove the pump to access the manifold, some of the bottom bolts are awkward...

i presume you've slackened the pump off and rotated it for best angle of attack?

Thanks.

I've now had a look at the 2CT manual. It seems to suggest that removing the manifold is straightforward; doesn't mention the injection pump. Please see page EM-48 .

I haven't touched the pump, due to lack of nerve.

Never mind the manual (which doesn't refer directly to the townace application), from experience you'll find it pretty difficult to access the front two lower bolts. The second of those also retains the dipstick tube.

... reads manual... no2 manifold doesn't exist on the townie. The manual advocates removing the cylinder head with the main part of the manifold intact.

Honestly. Mark the pump, loosen it off, and swing it away from the engine. If you still don't have enough space (might need to mod a spanner even...)then you've only the pulley to remove to pull the pump.

Ok. Many thanks for your invaluable advice. I hope I'm not overstaying my welcome, but I'm just about to post a query about turbo performance.
