(Home) Ace Answers Index

do not know a lot about computers but would it be possible to put a search thing on ace answers so you could type in subbject words so it would go straight to the listings

jon

first thing to say is that dave mason who hosts aceanswers does not host this message board so you should direct any e-mail to him via the editor link on the homepage of aceanswers.

second, building a search engine is no trivial task and requires a lot of effort to index and link all the information. it doesn't help when people enter subject headings such as 'help' or something similarly unhelpful. dave has tried to get around this by creating a categorised on-line manual by inserting the information gleaned from the many hundreds of posts on this message board. however, it all takes time and dave like the rest of us has a job and family obligations to attend to as well.

personally i think that dave has done a marvellous job with aceanswers and although an infrequent user myself, i manage to find my way around easily enough without a search engine.

ok dave that's just a fiver for the pr :-)

Jon,
It is indexed go to the ace answer short cut and see the index, also tips on how to use a search engine (google?) are there.
One thought what IE Browser are you using?

I recommend that you always use Google or similar when searching the internet, whether you think you know which site will have the answer or not. Even Ace Answers is not infallible! so why restrict your search?

If I want to search Ace Answers I put "mpvi.net" at the start of what I type into google. Try it. Go to www.google.co.uk and enter "mpvi.net stainless exhaust". Then ask Google to "repeat the search with the omitted results included".
