(Home) Backfire on start up. (efi)

Occassionaly when I turn the key to start my 2.0 EFI Royal Lounge 4x4 automatic I get a backfire and the engine cuts out. When the engine is running I have no problems, in fact it runs like a dream. Could the backfire be caused by a leaking vac pipe and if yes which pipe might it be? The idle speed is a little higher than normal, 1100rpm in 'N' or 'P' but drops to 850rpm when put into 'D'.
I am going on holiday soon, 6 up with luggage and bikes so I need it to be in good order.
Thanks in advance. Bill.

Bill

Have you checked the diagnostic socket for errors? If no errors then yes vacuum leaks on the air intake line could be the trouble. I have the EFI section from the manual scanned and zipped up. Trouble is it is 12.8MB or 5 x 2.8MB.

Depends upon the space in your inbox. Let me know if you want it or any specific references from the manual.
