Cos' it goes through a test that allows it for use on the road, SVA I think it's called. I think that any car over 10 years old can be imported and used without restriction. Now does that mean it is ok to use it in Europe?

So long as the lights are deflected, its taxed, tested, insured and in the UK for no less than 6 months a year, yes.

the car is a town ace, and it has been in Europe scince 1999 and no mention of 'E' mark lights has been made up until now.
