I posted some time ago on this and had no response.Has anyone had any trouble/ The problem seems to be the box and "valve" which operates the cables controlling hot and cold and air.Itis possible to disconnect them and select hot or cold but not when on the move - diving into the passenger footwell is not safe driving!

While you could disconnect, you will not get the same degree of mixing that the unit does for you. To get the correct temp may take a lot of stops. Probably worth searching the scrap yards for a replacement unit.
