(Home) Replacing a mirror

Well they will be when I get my hands on them!!!

Some little vandal has ripped the mirror bit out of my drivers side wing mirror!!

I have checked on BBC spares and they only sell the whole unit for £50. This is a bit steep seeing as I only need the mirror bit.

I saw some of that mirrored vinyl in Motaman used to replace broken mirrors. Has anyone used this before or does anyone know where I might get just the glass mirror bit?

Thanks
Tony

See Ace Answers - Archives - Bodywork & Accessories - Mirrors.

To avoid following traffic looking misleadingly distant, I replaced both my mirror glasses with flat mirror from an ordinary glass shop - they seemed used to cutting it for cars from the customer's template. About £15 the pair. Stuck them on, 3 years ago, to the front of the Toyota mirrors with piles of double-sided sticky pads. However flat glass doesn't give such a wide view.

The template I used is http://mpvi.net/ig/igmirror.gif - should come out right if you save it as a graphic, print it, cut it out and check.
