iHAVE A MASTER ACE SURF AUTO-DEISEl--a beautiful job THE OTHER WEEK ALLTHE LIGHTS ON THE DASH came on so Idroveit straight to the garage .They (and rac) said it was the alternater ,so they took it out andoff it went to birmingham to be refurbished, but it was o.k. Now he tells me it needs an ECU charge related(thats what he wrote down) and they dont know where to get one from.--Isaid I'd ask on your site if anyonemight have another idea as I,m not sure the people at the garage really know quite what is wrong , and of course its going to cost a couple of arms. it wont keep a charge- new battery too,Also when Iwent to see how they were getting on with it today they said someone was interested in it and would Ilike to sell.Isaid no ,but told them Ihad paid £4000 for it last Juneand perhaps he'd get one if he looked around
They all thought it was far toomuch(Ihope it did't hear them)for a 1991 deisel automatic VEHICLE 160KILOMEterS ON CLOCK -- AND SUCH AN EYECATCHER AND IMMACCULATE. and it holdsall 5 grandchildren safely. What more could one want----well something that goes for a start. Ifeel quite upset about my beautiful van. help please. (its been away 2weeks now I'veven forgotten the exact name)
Catherine
P.S Ihave had advice from your excellent site before--mostly trivial things likewherethe winsdcreen washer was filled up andhow to fit full seatbelts in the back
thanks

ECU charge related?

I think someone's guessing. Your problem is to do with the charging system not the ECU - that's just a computer that manages your electrics. If you're sure the alternator is ok then the fault will be with the voltage regulator which is behind the glove box.

There's more detail in the archives - and it won't cost you any arms to fix.
