(Home) Spain 1200 km and other owner tales

hi just a up date on my town ace 2ct turbo diesel 1991 ..as i mentioned in questions a few months ago i intended to drive to spain .callis to toss de mar costa brava 1200km i drove for 300km then rested for 20 minutes through out the jouney. working on 300km used half a tank of diesel at approx 70mph constant costing 25euros (£18)to re fuel .going was fine and the ace seemed to enjoy the open roads .unfortunatly 300km from callis on the return journey home the near side rear wheel cylinder leaked and decided to let me down ...still could happen on any car anywhere..so if you are planning a trip to spain take( 2 triangles a high vis vest spare lamps fire ext )good euro cover i can recomend via footman james insurance 0845 4586791 ........

Apart from the wheel cylinder which as you say can happen to anyone anywhere, in fact happened to Ian Dunse not so long ago, another feather in the Ace cap.
I did a trip to Austria last year, don't think I would have thought about going without Euro cover of some sort.
Trust the last bit did not put a downer on the trip, and finding the problem was not a scary event?

cant beat that but this year went from belfast to rosslare (one end of ireland to the other) caught ferry to cherbourg, cherbourg to st jean de mont and then back, about 2000 km with 5 kids on board, pregnant wife and all luggage and no problems only a sore bum and sore ears from listening to bickering kids (are we there yet)...

the next day had a moble tune and i had two plug leads the wrong way round

ok - as were on the "big fish" stories - what about belfast to stranraer to poole - st malo - as far south in france to la rochelle and back. circa 3,000km in 2 weeks.
only problem was it developed a whistle / warble thats revs related. sounds loudest on the drivers side. not that loud when the drivers seat is up ( over the noise of the engine, 2ct. turn ignition off quick while its revving at 3000 and you can hear a bearing thats noisy. any ideas welcome. ( yea, i know should be a new thread on this one - but at the moment its not a serious problem, when it is i'll shout )
