(Home) Liteace crank pulley problem

I own a 1991 4WD LiteAce with a 2ltr 2CT turbo diesel engine. Recently the main pulley wheel located on the crankshaft has come loose and worn the inside diameter of the pulley away. The local garage I've always taken it to rekons it's a common problem and the end of the crank is too worn to be repaired but I get the impression that he's not really interested in working on it. To me the end of the crank doesn't look that worn but I have yet to put a micrometer on it. Does anyone know the exact diameter the end of the crank is supposed to be and where I could locate a second-hand pulley wheel?
It would be a real shame to break her which is what the garage is suggesting as I've had a good few years of loyal service from the van. Could anyone suggest a good workshop located say within a 50mile radius of Newport in S.Wales?
Also could anyone give me a rough idea of what she's worth as is or to break. She's done 120,000km, mint velour interior and the body is immaculate apart from a ding in the side sliding door.

If the pulley has still been driving, via it's key, it is unlikely that the crankshaft is worn. However, if the securing bolt has unwound in service (a common ailment-see the archives ), the pulley keyway, and the bore of the pulley are likely to be damaged. These faults are fairly easy to remedy and a s/h pulley can be obtained from various suppliers. Try BBC spares.
You may have to file up a new key and, if I were fitting it, I would put in a simple bolt locking device too.

Rod. You should have started a new thread but, this information is likely to be in the archives. Is your engine a 2C ? If so, the engine manual, code RMO25E is available through your local Toyota dealer. It cost less than a tenner and covers all the information you will require
