(Home) Thermostat on a space cruiser

hi all

i have just got hold of a e reg 2.0 ltr space cruiser its been running fine but all this week its been making a bubbling sound in the expansion tank and some times pushing some not all the water out. which then after 8hrs or over night i start it up i get the low coolent level light on ....

ive kept an eye on the temp gauge and it goes to 1/2-3/4 if going up steep hills..the rad cap is silver with red writing .. i did try to look for the thermostat in where the top hose connects to the front of the engine but there was nothing i asume thats where its meant to be ???

if anyone has got any advice they could offer i would be sooooo greatfull

thanks

anthony

I thought the same
the thermostat is the opposit side of the engine in the block at the end of the bottom hose
my temp cauge always reads 1/2 to 3/4 normally

I have just had an over heating problem which seens to be the rubber at the end of the spring on the rad cap being worn

mine is a d reg 2.0 ltr

jon is yours petrol?? if so what sort of miles do you get from a full tank.

thanks

Yes, I had the same sort of problem on my 'G' reg speccy, it turned out to be an airlock in the cooling system.
These are a bit of a pig to get filled right.
Fill the system with engine not running but only dribble the water in. Then run the engine f
