(Home) Ace models in australia

We`ll be leaving the UK next year to go back to Australia (Perth), and I`d love to get a Townace over there if possible.

If there are any other Aussies on this board, could they please tell me how different a `Tarago` is (just a rebadged Townace), and how much it is compared to a Townace (eg a MasterAce Surf) if they are available in Aus.

Cheers,

Gary

The Tarago is the Australian (and NZ) version of the UK Spacecruiser. The UK (European) one was petrol and 2WD only, don't know if other regions had the same or fitted Diesels engines. The US version had 4WD as an option. All have lower roof and may not have a/c as standard.
Australia and NZ also import(ed) ex Japanese Townace's, so most likely you could source a Townace easily?

So the Tarago isn`t as good as a townace then. ??

How much (roughly) is a decent Townace vs a Tarago?

I see on an Aussie Toyota dealers site that their is a modern Tarago for sale... quite expensive though??

Whoops, the NEW Tarago is like the new Townace (one of the same?), I'm referring to the 80's-90's models.

The Tarago was teh Aussie badge for the Ace.

As such it is similar in many ways - many parts are actually interchangeable.
We did actually get a few of the skylight roof style, and the 4x4 was available for a short while.
There were a few non turbo diesels early on, but not many, so petrol will be your choice.

Pricing is a fraction cheaper for the Tarago than for the townace, but most here were pretty high spec anyway, so the Tarago is at the more expensive end of the van market.

Plenty of Jap imports here so no problem getting them.

I did send you an e-mail the other day - did you get it?
