(Home) TEMS shocks

Hi at my recent MOT they found some leakage on my front TEMS N/S shock absorber.I have been to source one but the cost is quite high.Does anyone have a spare one and are they easy to change.I have enquired about TEMS and non TEMS.Anywhere from £175 for TEMS plus a long wait. For non TEMS £75 each Plus £30 each to fit.Can anyone help.My vehicle is a 1991 Auto 2Lt TD Master Ace Surf.Thank you for any help given.

2 or 4wd? I've only done 2wd and it was about 15-20 minutes a side apart from one rusted bolt. Normal heavy duty shockers are from about £35 each so I think you are being over charged.
Have a read through Ace answers for TEMS replacements.
Where abouts are you?

Hi Clive thanks for the reply its 2WD and I live in Romford ESSEX.I tried TOHO MOTORS and thats where I got most of my prices from.I had the MOT done at Goodmayes Motors Chadwell Heath,it failed on 2 items ,the turning lights which he passed last year, and 1 anti rollrar D bush but he noticed the shock was a bit oily.I asked how much to do the shock absorber are you ready for this £42 per hour and it would take 1 and a half hours thats without the price of the shock.I got in touch with TOHO MOTORS I was quoted £175 for the TEMS plus £30 to fit, or normal Shocks £75 each £30 each to fit.I phoned BBC spares
TEMS £108 each plus vat and 2 months wait to import his normal shocks are £58 each plus vat.So if there is anywhere else I can get them I would appreciate knowing. Once again thanks for the quick reply.

TEMS shocks should be £92 + vat ex dealer. Quote VOR and expect within 5 days.

Non TEMS try these http://www.explorerprocomp.co.uk/

ES3000 shocks - from the US, heavy duty. £150 for 4 next day delivery. E-mail for more information if interested.

Oh and try fitting them yourself - easy enough job. There's a how-to on AceAnswers for getting the TEMS motor set up correctly.
