(Home) Toyota Estima owners club inauagural national meeting & agm

The Toyota Estima Owners Club now officially exists! The Club Rules can be found at http://www.smartgroups.com/vault/estima/TEOC_rules.doc

The Club's Inaugural National Meeting will be on Sunday the 26th of September 2004 at the RAF & BA Museum, Cosford, Shropshire. Gates are open from about 8am but the museum doors will open at 10am. Last museum entry will be at 4pm.

The museum may be found just 2 miles off junction 3 of the M54 motorway. It is signposted from the motorway but if you travel west on the M6, take J3 and effectively turn left (south) onto the A41, you’ll come to a large, traffic lighted junction. Turn right here, follow the road, under the railway bridge, along the perimeter of the airfield and through the gate at the end. The museum staff will direct you to our very own parking area. Parking and museum entry are both free.

Sadly barbecues aren’t allowed but if you don’t want to bring a picnic, there is a large café serving everything from snacks to full, hot meals. Unfortunately trade stands are not permitted but there shouldn't be any problem with people selling a handful of spares privately.

Outside, the museum has a large collection of former BA, BEA and BOAC aircraft as well as some great examples of what was our V bomber force during the Cold War.

Inside 3 huge hangars are examples of aircraft from every phase of flying history including a very rare Mitsubishi Zero and a complete TSR2. This aircraft would have been advanced even by today’s standards if the labour government hadn’t axed it in the 60s. There are more bombs and missiles than you can shake a jacking handle at and if all the bang stuff wasn’t enough, there’s a display detailing the history of military photography.

Is anyone into fire engines? There’s a small collection of airport fire fighters and various other airfield service vehicles from the 70s. Vintage car fans will love the WW2 cars and vans.

Cosford is an active RAF station and is therefore, a bad-weather magnet! Bring a brolly.

Space for up to 50 vehicles has been booked but it can easily be increased. It would be helpful if people could let us know if they will be attending just in-case more space needs to be booked.

The Club Committee has been formed and will meet at 11:00 am (subject to change) on the 26th of September at the RAF Museum, Cosford with the following Agenda (subject to change).

1. Apologies for Absence.

Hmm sounds a bit too grand and structured for us humble Townie owners. We're a bit more accustomed to kipping in a field and drinking beer out of the bottle. As kind of unofficial chairperson at the Jams, what do you think Clive ?

We have talked about a formal club, looking at savings on spares, insurance and anything else, but had no reaction from Toyota or L&V. The overheads of keeping records, membership fees, public accounting/auditing and time put a downer on the whole thing.
But hey, you know me I'd go with the flow, already attended the Toyota MPV import rally at Woodvale this summer, perhaps the Estima club will open the doors to other Toyota MPV imports - Lucida, Emina, Masterace, Liteace and Townace?

Hey !!
Don't forget us Spacecruiser owners. We need care and encouragement too.
The idea sounds good, and will get off the ground with enough owners pulling together to make it work (lets hope).

.. and those same owners doing all the admin, audit, secretarial and facilitating activities? Don't bank on it, I think we've been here before.
