(Home) Curtain rail

Does anyone know what the plastic sliding hook thing is for in the curtain rail over the sliding door?
I have electric rails don't know if non-electric are the same.

Clive

If it is what I think you mean - I thought it was to anchor the last curtain hook onto. Isn't it this that gets activated by the power? Can't say as I ever use the power option with mine so never given it much thought. I can investigate further if you have a problem.

No not that Ian. It is a body coloured plastic slide that sits on top of the rail independant of the normal curtain sliders/runners, and has a lip/hook that faces towards the body, it is about 2 cms wide.
It is not strong enough to use as a clothes hanger so what is it?

Nope don't think I have one of those but I'll have to check.

Well I stand corrected! Yes I do have one. Not prominent because most of the hook part is broken. Definitely for hanging something but as you say, not strong enough for a coat. Funny how there isn't one on the opposite side. So it makes you think it is something unique about the sliding door? Answers/theories on a post card please ......

That's one of the amazing things about this vehicle. I've had it for nearly 5 years yet am still discovering new 'features' on it.

I have one on my electric rails. The flimsy springy "hook" upper part has a small felt pad on top which bears lightly on the trim above when I slide it to the middle of that section of track. It might be a spacer to keep the track away from the bulge in the trim, or vice versa, so the curtains don't get obstructed?

We just got a '93 Hiace Super Custom 4WD, imported, but missing the side electric curtain rails. Any idea where I can get these, local Toyota dealers will try they say. I'll pay whatever necessary (with some sanity check) to get them! My wife said she'll make the missing curtains, the back door rail is fitted.
Thanks!

I think, between Dave Bright and the suggestions here, I've found the answer. With the curtains pulled and in motion the rail can bounce, the slider/spacer thingy when placed as Dave Mason says under the bulge of the trim, stops the bounce and resulting rattle from the curtain hooks. Not needed on the other rails as they have a bottom rail that keeps things tight.
Still open to other ideas.

Richard, where are you, I have some Townace ones but I don't think thay are long enough for the Hiace?

Clive,

I'd be interested in some of the Townie electric rails, which ones have you got, as I need the front driver's side & front passenger side & bottom tailgate rails. Can you help? if so how much do you want. Please e-mail me.

Regards Rob.

Just had new curtains made [by big sister]the bottom rails are missing on my G reg Townace Camper,so I improvised thus:- B&Q curtain net rods with fixing brackets, drivers side around £10 fitted 3 brackets 1 either end 1 in the middle had to drill small pilot hole in old rail 7 & internal body panel then screwed brackets to old rail,Bottom hem of curtain slit a little & thread thro curtain hem clip rail to brackets & walla a neat & tidy rail, repeat the other side with shorter rail £6-50 total cost £17,& a good job done even if I say so myself.Even got extra slides for top rail @ Wilkinsons 99pence for 10.Happy sewing.
