(Home) Gurgling sound 2 litre td Townace

I've driven about 250 miles over the weekend with no problems. However I can hear a gurgling sound which doesn't occur all the time.
The engine is not overheating and the temperature gauge marker is always at half way when the engine is warmed up.
Any thoughts please
Graham
Hmmm signs of things to come?

If you hear it again pull over somewhere safe and lift the engine cover...might be easier to find out then....
Would check your coolant level initially (at the pressure cap when cold)

Yes, you are only safe if you reliably find the coolant, cold, within 30mm of the underside of the rad cap. Also check where the level is in the expansion tank, between the two marks on the side, pressing a torch against the top can help you see this, then you'll know if any coolant has "gone" - into the main system or out of the final overflow.

If the cooling system has been re-filled recently this gurgling would be normal as air is expelled. But I believe the expansion tank system can gurgle a bit in routine use, as can the aircon system.

Unless you have modified it, "the temperature gauge marker is always at half way" is no more than a sad epitaph, one day, for your cylinder head. You really need a gauge that tells you if the head temperature is rising. See Ace Answers on the options.

Point taken about the temperature gauge Dave, thanks
