(Home) Wheel bearings

Hi All,
Im new to the site. I have a Royal Lounge Townie,1991.
I have read that there is a thread about bearings but i am unable to find it. What I need to know is:-
1. Is there a special part no. for the front bearings
2. Is it in any way an unusual job to do?
I will be doing it myself, so any advice is welcome!
(where can i get them from?).

Ted. Is your vehicle 2 or 4WD? In any case it is a straightforward job but, do you need new bearings? The bearings are cone type and, after long periods of service they will need adjusting and re-packing with grease. If your vehicle is 4WD, there is a minor complication in removing the locking hubs but, this is straightforwrd also. You will find some references in the archives, especially hints on removing the cone washers (4WD only)from their very secure seating in the locking hubs.
Your local Toyota dealer should be able to identify the part numbers if you are intending to replace the bearings.

2WD or 4WD
2wd easy taper fit no special tools - UK Spacecruiser ones should fit but check first.
4wd check on Ace Answers.
