(Home) Fuel warning light

i have a D reg 20L masterace surf petrol my fuel gauge has given up working so i was useing the warning light as a guide now the warning light does not work i have tested the bulb and thats fine which will be easier and cheapest to fix ,fuel gauge or warning light im disabled so doing it myself is not an option i can do little things like change oil and bulbs but this is beyond me.

Both senders are in the fuel tank, this needs to be removed to access them. While investigating/replaceing one you may as well do the other.

Slightly curious that both have failed. Might be that damage is occurring to the common wiring that goes to the tank?

thanks for the info i will get someone to get it done as takeing the fuel tank off does not appeal to me , the fuel gauge only worked once when i filled the tank up for the 1st time about 2 yars ago and then it only went to half way and has not worked since (maybe it was the shock of a full tank of petrol that did it i know it gave me a shock to fill it)any way thanks again for the info.

Does one have to remove the fuel tank to access them or can I replace the fuel gauge without removing the tank.

Kasper.

Remove the tank, the fuel guage sender screws to the top and reach's down to the bottom of the tank, so you need that much room to remove it.
Check the wiring connections first before removing the tank.
