(Home) Lite-ace overheating over 35mph

Hi, I recantly bought a toyota lite-ace 1989 2ltr turbo diesel, I was informed (I bought it from a friend of a friend) that it used to have overheating problems and now it was fine after new head gasket, head skim, new radiator etc all aparently done by the garage. I bought it in the UK and drove it back to france where I now live, it was fine in the UK, half way home it started overheating, I then realised that if I drove under 35mph it was fine, but as soon as I whent over it overheated, I have looked at message after message on this board and tried several of the sugestions, there is a new rad cap, as the work was done before by the toyota garage I presume the correct thermostat is installed, this really is a baffler, any help or sugestions would be greatly appreciated

Chris,
Classic sign of head/head gasket failure. Ok around town, as soon as you speed up the thing overheats.
There are several posts on this in the archive.
Do you know if the head was pressure tested as well as being skimmed?
