(Home) Bench seat info needed

Hi Clive or Dave Miller.
I need your advise.
will 2+1 bench seat(rotating type)go straight in Spacecruiser?. Will they bolt straight into original
bench seat mountings? or will they be different?.
Is the floorpan exactly the same as one from a 1990
Townace?. If so I have no worries, but if they aren't
can you advise what to do?.
Regards

Andy,
The floorpan is the same. I don't know if the seat frames are the same, nor if the fixing points are in the same position. If they are not then some hefty bolts and strengthening plates underneath should get them in!

will the strengthing plates need to be welded in?.
or do i just get a big plate of steel and put that underneath then bolt down throught that?.

I don't know if they need to be welded or not.
Perhaps one of the MoT experts out there can comment?
Lets hope it fits the existing mountings.

hello andy and clive cardiff mot man here as regards seats and mountings i would be happy to pass a seat that had been mounted with a plate off say 3inch by 3 inch, and 3 to 5 mm thick on each bolthole theres no need to weld to floor ,,,but remember if there are seat belts.fitted to the seat frame then the bolts become seat belt ancorage points and any corrosion within 30 cms or 1 foot in old money to any off the bolts will result in a fail on the next mot

Thanks for that Mark.
Nice to know experts are keeping an eye on us.
Restored that Ace yet?

Hi Clive.
When the man who I'm getting seat from done measurements for me I compared them to mine and found ours didn't quite match up on centre set of holes,so it looks like only 2 plates for centre set of holes are needed,LUCKILY!!.
As to restoring the Ace,well come Monday, out with the welder and sheet metal, kind chap I know who runs sheet metal company said any sheets I need he can supply for nothing!!!should be able to keep Ace going for a long time. It will be a lot better than using aluminium mesh and fibreglass, that takes too long.
Quicker to cut out bad crap, and put in new treated metal.Anyway keep you posted on how the Ace is going.
Thanks for the info Mark, getting plates made up Wednesday.
