black/grey smoke!

So far i have ;
had injectors checked they`re ok,
fuel filter has been replaced,
timings checked and correct.

there seems to be quite abit of diesel? in the pipe leading to the air filter. Yet the air filter is clean.

What else could there be??? Any ideas gratefully recieved

Is this a 2CT? In the pipe leading to (actually from) the air filter is the oil which you find black? Black 2CT engine oil (not diesel) gets in there as a mist from under the valve cover. There is a small rubber tube from the very top of the engine, halfway along, that tees into that large air pipe. The intention is that the samll amount of unwanted fumes from inside the engine are sucked back into the engine by that route and burned.

Pull off one end of that small rubber tube and run the engine. You may find there is a LOT of oily mist blowing out of the engine there, which would get back into the engine with the air supply and burn as black smoke. If that is the case then you have to find out why the crankcase, which is vented internally through to the valve cover, has that pressure - likely to be damage in the area of piston/rings and a compression test would be sensible. There are some oil additives that may help for a while.
