(Home) Hiace wagon - diesel injection pump

Hi here!
Does anyone out there owning a 1990-93 Hiace Wagon Supercustom 2.4 Diesel Turbo EFI (2L-TE engine), know the model No. of the diesel Pump? Ive tried to locate it, but I can't see the number. Maybe if any of you have had cause to investigate the pump, you might know.

There is someone Iv'e contacted who may have the know-how in being able to increase the torque and performance of these machines, but first needs to know what model of pump he is dealing with.

Van Aakenn say they cant do anything with these pre 1995 EFI systems because there are too old - being analoge rather than digital. This remains to be seen, as Toyota introduced digital injection systems as early as 1984 , in fact; and 1989 where the Hiace is concerned. So I think there is hope - yet.

Of course, my greatest appreciation to the man - or, indeed, woman - who supplies this information.

Well, it's Denso's clone of the Bosch system, and it differs only in the format of the diagnostic data and the lack of a injector motion sensor that Bosch would have.(give or take...)

There are a number of other suppliers of tuning boxes- Van Aaken probably just don't want to bother, it's not too mainstream.

But if you want to play, one of the easiest things to do is to fool the fuel temperature sender. Hot fuel is less dense so the system will inject more. Tell it the fuel's hotter than it really is (resistor on the sender...) and you'll get a bit more poke. You can play the same tricks within reason on the coolant temp sender (timing advance when cold) and the boost pressure sender to increase boost.
I don't believe that Toyota use a MAF for airflow measurement, but you can certainly alter the IAT signal.

that'll do you to start with. I'll add that an intercooler is worth considering also.

Thankyou, David, for your input on this subject. It is obvious you are quite knowledgeable regarding these particular vehicles.

Unfortunately, I have no wiring diagrams or general information on the electrical systems where my Hiace is concerned;only the basic gen, hence making it rather difficult to apply your advisary measures - though, of course, they do make perfectly logical sense!

If you should know where I might obtain the necessary technical information, then, I would be most greatful if you could let me know. I am based in Birmingham, England.
Tony.
