(Home) Rear wiper

anybody altered thier rear wiper to give intermittent wipe? under most conditions continuous wipe is not required, but having to flick the switch every minute or so is a pain, or am i being lazy???

Mine has intermittent wipe, does your switch not rock down as well as up?
I also found recently that the washer works at each extreme of the the switch.

Mine didn't, but I modified it. I got an intermittent relay out of the breakers. (from a Pug309, IIRC)
Only problem was with the fact that the rear washer was earth-switched on the townie, so I needed a relay in parallel with the pump to send a continuous-on signal to the intermittent relay...

dave, thought of doing that myself, but how did you identify which relay is intermittent wipe & which way to wire up, (without it going fizzle...pop!!), or had you previousely owned a pug 309?
clive, yes my switch goes down as well as up, up is wash/wipe, down is constant wipe.

Strange, that. Mine was a '91 CR30, and the switch definitely only had three positions. Off, on, washer.

Eddie, I'm reasonably conversant with the innards of Peugeots and Citroens. You might look inside the rear hatch of a ZX or 306...
The one I used was blue, and (I'm going back five years here, so forgive me...) had about five "normal" spade terminals plus one of the narrow ones. I believe the narrow one was the connection to the washer pump...

Perhaps it's a Royal Lounge feature?
One click up and rear wiper on, push and hold for washer. One click down for intermittent and push and hold for washer. Switch has INT at the bottom.

My '91 Royal Lounge rear wiper control has 5 modes like Clive's. Except in heaviest rain or slowest traffic I find the blade soon judders if wiping continuously, intermittent action is much better.
