(Home) Pattern timing belt

Has anyone used pattern parts when changing the timing belt. I seem to have a small oil leak from the front crankshaft oil seal area (can't be totally sure until I strip it down but that looks the most likely candidate) and thought that I may as well change the timing belt while I am there.

Would pattern parts be OK for replacing these two bits. I don't mind using these in most places but these two seem particularly critical. The seal because if the fit is anything like the fit of pattern body panels I may need to reinforce it with chewing gum and the cambelt for all the usual reasons. Has anyone here used these parts before and did they work OK or is the genuine part better quality? I can't imagine that Toyota actually make any rubber bits in their own factories but it would be nice to hear of others' experiences.

Yes you can use pattern belts but beware of the quality.
My own pref is for a Gates belt, a lot of the trade wont use anything else and they supply to a lot of the makers too.
Make sure your pulleys are free from play and if you have the slightest oil leak then you must get it repaired as it will qiuckly damage a new belt.
I would get a geniune seal - unlike the belts its hard to quantify the quality .
