(Home) 2C engine in NZ Caldina

Fuel filter didnt do much if anything for performance, but turning the mixture screw thingy with locknut in 30 degrees did the trick. I had to increase hot and cold idle up a couple of times in the last year or so, but after increasing fuel...?(dont know the word)thingy, i have now returned them to their original settings. I'm so pleased to have what pep the 2c had, back! Yippy beans!!! Now, regarding the auto trans, havn't contacted Toyota yet. my model is the DUL, a billy basic model with leaf spring rear axle, which gives more width in the rear wagon for commercial space reasons including load carring capacity, but has worse handling, compared to the CZ, which has coil srung independant rear axle. CZ has better finish, nicer tailgate/rear lights and more electric features. Mine doesnt even have central lock. Year for year DUL's are cheaper, close to half CZ purchase. IE: my 94 with 200km is worth $4000nz, similar CZ $7000nz. So, with all this in mind, maybe toyota in its wisdom decided a heavily laden DUL running a gutless 2c would be better dropping speed/ screaming in 3rd up hills. They didnt realize that a glassy eyed kook like me and his dog would be puttering back and forth to the beach carrying no more than a flask of tea and a towel. I'll follow this through by phoning some punters selling their DUL's and CZ's. This will confirm if mine has a problem, though I doubt it, 3 years of ownership, its been like this. And, now that I have more power, hills and the auto are less of an issue, but still a bugger. Thankyou again to John and David, this site is refreshing in such a take the money and run world. Are you guys sure about auto trans fluid to fuel as additive? If so how much? PS: Spares ex Japan are cheap as chips here, ever thought of importing? are parts taxed like cars in UK? NZ is one of the largest importers of used Japanese cars. Every dodgy character has got into it, now there's bugger all money in it. I have been working on design of light electric vehicles, and see a place for a single cylinder diesel generator running at a constant efficient speed to maximise distances able to be travelled. But the fuel cell sounds the ticket, I could run the beast on dog pooh...Adios Gentlemen
