Hi everyone.
I have just bought a townie 2ltr diesel 2WD. I bought it with a sick head. Having stripped it all down I had to wait to get a replacement head. Got one in no time from Bill at BBC spares, great bloke. By the time I got it all put back together I had forgotten where a few of thevac pipes went. Found out on this site. The only other thing left over was two brown wires joined together with small "O" connecters from the loom right by the clip rack that holds the injector pipes down, behind the injector pump, There are two large ones which fit onto the "Boost" glow plug on the same loom.
Does anyone know where these two brown leads go? I think they may be "ground" leads but I am not sure.
By he way the ol' Townie runs a treat even with these two wires disconnected.
Help please.....

Well done to get that far. Try Ace Answers, Fuel system, Glow plugs, * Glow plug wiring. We've noticed that wire colours vary in otherwise identical Aces, but you might find that your brown wires are actually dirty white. They're probably the earth wires.

They're not the glow plug wires, they are on the same loom though. They appear from the loom under the inlet manifold, between the manifold and the wheel arch. They are brown one with a stripe but not sure of stripe colour. As I mentioned they seem only to reach the clamp bolts that clamp the injector pipes to the head.

My Ace has only one thin brown wire with white stripe -and yes you're right - it connects and grounds to the fuel pipe clamp.Maybe yours is slightly different wiring arrangement, and the 2nd wire links to something else. But if same colour, it's a fair bet that it ,too, should be grounded to the clamp.

I think we're all talking about the same wires I thought they were dirty white. I suspect they're white+brown. They are earths from the glow plug relays. See Ace Answers - Dashboard & electrics - Wiring - o Wiring diagram, glow plugs - at the bottom, two W-B wires earthed to [the injector pipe clamp on] the intake manifold.

Thanks guys, you convinced me to connect these wires to earth (ground) on the injector pipe clamp, and Hey Presto!!! you're right. I was fooled because the relays seem to get their earth anyway, from somewhere else.
Although I was trained by Jaguar in the 60s you can't know everything can you? and if there is one thing I have learned it is "never poke wires into just anywhere" What a great site this is, and what super people the Toyota Ace'ies are. If I can help anyone out with my knowledge, please ask. I will now subcribe to the funds.
