(Home) Coolant level sensor

It appears the coolant level sensor in the expansion tank is prone to damage from pulling the wires when removing the tank, they are actually easy to take apart for repair but on mine the rubber grommet that fits the sensor to the tank is badly perished. Toyota only appear to sell the perishable grommet with anew (everlasting) tank, £63! for a rubber grommet! any ideas anyone?

Barry
Worth remembering that the "sensor" is merely a micro-switch inside a sealed tube that is operated by a magnet in the float that rises and falls with the level within the expansion bottle.

Gordon,
yes, the micro switch is easy to repair, but the grommet impossible. this grommet has 2 functions, most immportant to seal the micro switch in place so our precious coolant doesn't leak, but also to provide a collar around the switch preventing the low coolant light flashing under heavy braking.
