Has any one ever had a problem with the auto gearbox namely when cold the cluch slips, ( I know it dosen't have one but its the best way to describe the fault) . When warm it's fine it's just starting out takes 3000 revs to go at snails pace in reverse or it wont change up for 5/10 mins in Drive.

Change the fluid, clean the filter, try again...

It sounds like you need to change the gearbox oil (ATF)
It should be cherry red in colour, so pull the dipstick at the back of the engine bay and check it. If its brown and smells a bit like burnt toast, then it needs changing.
If your not confident then look in yellow pages for an automatic specialist near you.

Cheers I've already chaanged the oil, no change now got an auto box specialist to look at it but he will have to keep it overnight to cool down but he reckons the governor is not disengaging. I will keep you informed.

And the filter is in what condition?

"governor is not disengaging"? That's bull. The governor controls gear *changes* dependant on speed and load. Doesn't affect line pressure when taking off.

The system isn't building pressure when cold, which is when the fluid is thickest. Perhaps the torque converter is draining down overnight and not refilling quickly enough, but I'd go with a blocked filter or failing main oil pump.

Your specialist needs to do a pressure test (after the filter's been cleaned/ replaced, and the fluid changed again for good measure). Low line pressure is likely a pump issure rather than a valve body one.

Thanks for advice. Now sorted, it was clutch plates inside. These look the same as motorcycle plates & were very shiny where they shouldn't of been.Possibly due to bad adjustment of kickdown cable by previous mechanic.
