(Home) Radio wiring puzzle

At long last my old original AM cassete has died mainly due to having a couple of yard of my favourete tape wraped up in side.question 1 on taking the old set out[just to see if I could]I notice there are only two connectors to the cassette with a lead from the radio to tape,if I buy a new radio cassette will it just plug in as now or will I have to get the man who can in? the other small thing, whilst having the radio out I notice 4 bullet connectors 2 male 2 female sticking out from the side of the glove box any idea what they might have been for.My only thoght is for the extra's that are on some dash board ie inclin meter etc. Thanks to all who answer.Just had a nice 2000km trip round Scotland & my nice "Mr MASON" only sounded of once, on the climb up the M62 coming over the moors.

Steuart,
I got an adapter from an auto audio shop. It plugs the Toyota loom in one end and has a plug that should fit any new radio/cassette/CD player.
Some places do a supply and fit.......
No idea what the connectors are, did not see them in mine, I did have a microphone DIN jack and loud speaker attachments on the rain gutter though.

Goodness only knows what the extra wires are for, but you might be right about the clinometer.

Re the radio wiring, if you get a new unit you'll have to remove BOTH radio and tape deck. Toyota had an odd way of linking in, the output from the tape is at "line level", it uses the amp inside the radio.
But the connector from radio to car is standard, you should be able to get an Autoleads adaptor to plug a new DIN radio into. You'll need a pocket to fill the gap in the dash tho...

As an aside, Toyota are STILL doing that wiring trick. My father's Yaris has a radio cassette w/ ondash display, and the accessory cd player (fits in a cubby under the tape deck...) plugs inline between tape and display...

Find a decent auto electricians that have catalogues for the likes of Lucas etc. What you are after are from Guardian. 55W halogen on a std bayonet fitting. 765 I think is the number. Cost around £10 per pair.

The front fogs are standard bayonet but with unusual 35W yellow-tinted-glass bulbs. Can replace with 21 Watt clear #382 (same as direction indicators?) or Guardian bulb No 765, 55w (both have same bayonet base as the Townace bulb).
Sounds good but I cribbed it from Ace Answers.

Oh no, don't change those lovely yellow tints! I always use my fogs only in poor light to 'just getting dark' conditions. Watch other drivers faces as you drive past! Kids love 'em. Be bold and proud, stand out in the crowd.....oower, I'm a poet and didn't know it....Ooops, there I go again!

Why not buy some normal ones and paint them yellow?

Not sure if this has been encounted by anyone else going through the web page.
J reg Townie with the orange colour front facing parking lights -- failed on the MOT.
As I couldn't see any alterative, had to cut 50% of plastic from the front of the lens ( part that covers the parking lamp )and then mastick some clear plastic over the hole I had just cut out, all to get it through the test.
Anyone know where I might find UK spec lamps ? Its a one stip that includes the indicator lens and is directly positioned under the headlight.

The normal procedure is to wire the sidelight feed in to the clear corner lights...
