(Home) Urgent question.rear anti roll bushes

Please can you help
Question; Would a machanic have to remove the rear wheels to fit new anti roll bushes on the rear of a 4 wheel, 2.0 diesel townace. I recently had this done & days later my rear wheel came completely off (whilst driving) with my 3 kids in the car. Im going to see machanic tomorrow but want to be sure that he would have to remove them first. In haste many thanks, Chris.

Not necessarily. You or I would work from the side of the car with the wheel off, but a mechanic with access to a lift might've got to them from underneath.

How long between getting the work done and the problem ocurring? And did you check the nuts for tightness after 100 miles as many tyre centres recommend?

It's more than likely IMO that the mechanic forgot to torque the wheelnuts. However there is a responsibility on the driver to inspect that the vehicle is roadworthy on a regular basis.
