(Home) Noise

merry christmas everyone and now for my bad news having had a head go on me then the turbo i have now developed a metalic and high pitch whine from my engine to me it sounds like the turbo again but seems to be coming from a differant place this time the position seems to be if your in the back behind the drivers seat at first i thought it was vibration but this morning i had a large puff of smoke out of the back then the noise it vanishes when you stop and restart but comes back after driving a while i dont seem to have any effects from this apart from the noise and that smoke any ideas as i have just about had enough. many thanks to anyone who can shed some light on my dull day

Manifold gasket? loose intake hose?
What colour was the smoke- black or blue?

It looked white too me, but it was one big puff then it went. i've had no smoke since just the click and then the noise.

In addition to what David said, check the connection of the exhaust downpipe to the turbo for leaks and for any holes in the downpipe itself. I had one in mine (not obvious)and it amplified the turbo whine so much that it made me think the turbo was duff.

further to my plea for any idea about the noise i have on my townie the latest thing i have noticed is the noise only appears when the engine is warm and the green light on dash where it says turbo doesnt come on during my last run out the green light was flickering and when lit the noise went away any more ideas about this problem would be most grateful before i put it in a garage.

Have you tried an oil change?

Sounds like the turbo is dying. Noise= compressor blades catching on something...
