Bought a 1988, 2ltr TD, automatic Masterace Surf on the Friday and it died on the Saturday. Apparently it is the starter motor. Does anyone have any clue about replacing it? I have been searching for an online manual, but found nothing helpful. I also need to get the heating working and replace the boot lock. Any advice would be appreciated (apart from advice to sue the seller of the vehicle!!). Many thanks

What makes you think the starter is dead? Clicking noise, no go? Probably just need contacts cleaned or replaced, although it may just be the infamous voltage drop issue. Starter comes out easily from underneath, although I'd have to say if you need to ask how, maybe someone else should be looking at it?.
