(Home) Overheating theory

I've had my Townie now for 3 weeks, and so far I'm impressed. This site is a godsend and has already answered several queries. However, all the stories of overheating are a bit scary, but does anyone know if they suffered the same problem in Japan? If not, could that suggest that it's caused in some degree by different driving styles between here and Japan? Maybe European driving styles are just too aggressive for these vehicles to keep their cool.

But it IS down to driving styles. The vehicle is called the "Townace" for a very good reason. It's Ace in town. You'll rarely if ever see a townie making an intercity thrash in Japan and their speed limits are lower anyway, I believe.

Yes, the 2C is known to be a touch soft in the head department regardless of what it's fitted to- even the last of the 2C- powered Avensis had head problems. But there is no doubt whatsoever that the cooling system in the townie is undersized to cope with the waste heat of forcing a brick-like object through the air at 75mph...

hi everyone,
has anyone experienced this with their townies.
when on the motorway cruising at 60 it is fine, but when i go above this there is a random lose of power.when i put the clutch in at this speed and floor the accelerator she goes up to 4000rpm and drops to 3000.it goes between these constant while the clutch is still in.
i look forward to your ideas as i am stumped.
many thanks
kevin

Kevin, this should really be in a new thread, and you might want to tell us what type of engine you've got...

But at a guess, I'd say it's a diesel, and you need to replace your fuel filter.
