(Home) insurance

Hi all, just thought i would post a link to an MPV insurance place that seems to be really good for insuring the old Faithfull Townie.
Quoted me £324.TPFT Im 33, driving 15 years, 6 No Claim, parking car on road, and have a non standard non thatchem approved alarm imobiliser pager thang.
Tesco is the only other if have found to come close but they will only provide insurance if you have aproved Thatcham Alarm/Immobilizer on it and can prove it (Well thats wot they told me anyway).
Other site have either not quoted me (Because if the non thatchem element) or they have ranged from £450-£975 (ouch).

Just though it might help some-one out there keep the cost low, they do an on-line quote so you can see if you would save anything.

Thanks, the latest insurance tips are always of interest.

I notice they say "we are unable to provide cover in Northern Ireland".

Also they say "The quotes provided are not binding quotations. They are intended as an indication of the premium based on the information you have provided." so we need to know, Dan, if they deliver on your quote, or if it was too good to be true?

I repeat the link because it will disappear when I post this ... http://www.mpvinsurance.co.uk/

Well I hate to crow (no actually I love it) but my renewal premium this year for me and the missus to drive our 1990 Royal Lounge, fully comp with protected no claims, is £164.26 with L&V with CSMA discount. Anyone do better? I reckon Clive is the only one that could get close to that?

As with Ian, our 91 Townie is insured through L&V fully comp etc - although it cost us around the £200 mark - no other Insurance Companies even came close to that figure!

Thanks guys will have to try L&V as they seem to be about the lowest of the low. (in a good way)
Do you guys have a thatchem approved alarm/Imobilizer fitted, or any alarmy imobilizery thing at all, as some place's are right fussy and what is a CSMA discount not heard of that before.

What's the contact number for L&V?What's CSMA discount?

- (#15090) D Rees, 24 Jan 05 14:51

As it happens had my insurance renewal this morning £201 me only, max everything no limits no excess apart from £50 for windscreen replacement.
That will teach me for living in the Car Crime Capital of Europe!

Is L&V = Liverpool Victoria Insurance ?if so I just tried to get a quote with them and they don't do Jap imports.

- (#15090) D Rees, 24 Jan 05 17:33

They do, you just have to get the right person. some of the townie models they won't insure, just ask them the models they cover..........mind renewal was £189 for 39 year old with 3 nc fully comp with L/V

- (#15090) neil rolfe, 24 Jan 05 18:24

Yep L&V = Liverpool & Victoria
CSMA = Civil Service Motoring Association

As Neil says you have to get the right person. They seem to only recognise the spec for an auto diesel Townace. That's because its probably the only one on their database. If you are lucky enough to connect to someone in the call centre with more than a couple of brain cells, they will do a bit of leg work for you. Worth the effort to keep trying.
