(Home) Masterace vs nissan homy

Hi everyone (long time no speak)

been away from bok for some time now and still got my 1991 masterace 4x4 (had it since feb 1998)had some problems with it but with the help of bok got then all sorted and she been running fine (thats one reason i have not been on bok)I have now got a J reg nissan Homy full spec (some of the things it can do will impress a townie)i will still keep my ace for a while but sadly will put her up for sale to the right buyer ( we had some good time with her and some bad times and we remember the good times she ferried our family around the uk and gave us a base on wheels ( like at the seaside )the homy is 2.7 turbo dripping with gaggets and slightly bigger inside then the ace,but not as good looking,

Any one know anything about the nissan homy or a website like our bok as i may need to gather information on homy as i did on my ace, if and when I put my ace up for sale I will offer it on this website first

Never heard of it, mate. And we see most of the imports on this side of the Irish Sea, too...

The Homy is the Nissan version of the Hi-Ace MPV, you have to look carefully to identify which is which.

Nope. Can't say as I have ever seen one either. Townaces are as common as cabbages around here now. I suspect getting parts and information for the Nissan will be as difficult as it was for us in the very early days.

dennis,

We call it Nissan Urban here in the Philippines. It's very common van here but not as popular as Toyota Hiace. Local units were equipted with TD27 diesel and Japan imports use TD27 turbo. The engine is common here since it can also be found in pickups(frontier) and suvs(terrano).

Try to ask the guys of www.nissanbayan.com. They are very helpful, same as here in BoK.

See I tried not to upset Dennis by saying it's just a Nissan copy of the Hi-Ace and what do I get?
Whatever you decide it is it is welcome at the Brean Ace Jam.
Dennis after that huge list of faults that you have corrected you are now getting rid of the Townace!

>>Nissan copy of the Hi-Ace<<
Ah..much better Clive! LOL...I'm in nit pick mode this week (occupational hazard).
Nissan do some very fine vehicles....our old uk primera being by far the best made vehicle we have ever owned

Many thanks Guy's

I am in no rush to sell my Ace and clive you are right to pick up on the huuuuuge list of faults to put my ace in good working order with the help of afew thousand english pounds where the value of the ace was only £1600 which to me tells me that I must love her very much, she a very useful tool to our family and I will just keep her and bin my old work van and go to work in comfort.
if you see a nissan homy at one of the jams then you will know its that old townie dennis.
I will try the www.nissanbayan.com site to see if I can get any information on me homy, how can I post a picture of her just to show townie's what she looks like is it possible on this site

even my local nissan dealer never seen or heard of homy
but he will investigate for me and contact me

speak to you all soon

Oodles here, but only a small percentage compared to townies, lities and hiaces. Dennis you state: "but not as good looking", be careful. She might have been listening. The newer Nissan vans do sell for less than Toyotas, however, I think that is mainly due to marketing and, ah, image. The better looking Nissan Urvan has become a more popular import here, it share same running gear. I think. The 2.7 diesel is a real winner. The 6cyl LD28 is also a huge legend here, a diesel of choice for repowering old Transits, Bedford CF's, Holdens and Falcons etc (as the early nissan sedans fell apart long before these engines). In summary: possibly a better deisel, with a less attractive face.
