(Home) diesel pump leak

Townace 2ct. When cold diesel leaks from an area on the nearside of the fuel pump that I can only describe as a very strong coiled spring. I have replaced the 'o' ring that fits between the pump body and this component. The leak is now dripping from a nut that is on the end of the shaft that retains this spring. It there another seal on the shaft that requires me to dimantle the spring/levers?

That's the cold-start advance lever. There will be a seal on the shaft, yes. But unfortunately Toyota don't show a component view of the "thermo-wax" assembly.

Check carefully that the leak isn't from higher up the pump (top cover seal)as I've never heard of a thermowax leaking like that...

Thanks for your prompt reply, what a resource this BOK is! I took a small mirror and torch, I'm convinced the leak is from the 'thermo-wax" asembly. The pump is completly leak free, except for this dripping near the end of this spring. It's difficult to see because there is a large washer that retains the spring, with a nut holding the whole thing on. The dripping is actually on the washer rather than the nut, so somewhere behind the washer, on the shaft, my problem lies.
I guess I could remove it from the van and take it in
to the Toyota dealer for their oppinion?

Pull it out and strip it, or get another one from a breakers- your local diesel specialist might have a duff pump you can cadge one off.
Going to the dealers won't help. Like I say, they only rehard the thermo wax as one item, there's no stripdown instructions and no parts are available...

oh yes Jim, I'm interested alright. Can you email me the details, i.e the cost and if it could be posted, how we can do the transaction.(I'm in Runcorn Cheshire)
Many thanks, looks like a may have a solution, (I just need a solution to get the diesel off my drive now!)

Sounds good. Get a good'un on, then if you'd be good enough to strip the leaker, we can see how to deal with it directly.

I have seen two of these, the fuel oozes out from under the spring, and drips onto the water pipe below. Once up to running temp, and I guess the thermo wax fuel heating circuit closed, the leak stops. A line of fuel spots on the drive/road is an indication, but of course once you go to investigate the trap is shut and no leak. My friend found it by starting from cold and using a mirror under the thermo wax coil saw the fuel seep out. £10 down the breakers found him a fuel tight one.
As David says, if you could strip the leaking one and lets us know if it can be fixed?
