(Home) belts - timing belt

This is really a shot in the dark question. I've just have the timing belt changed on my 93 Townace Royal Lounge and since having the belt changed i keep getting a loud vibration sound, for about 30 sec whilst I initally pull away. once the vehicle is warmed up its gone. I've spoken to the mechanic who fitted it, but he doesn't have a answer. Can anyone help. I've checked the BoK that the part he fitted was the correct and it was.

Many Thanks

Fan belt or viscous coupling issue perhaps?

hello rich, if its a "honking" noise, then its an overtightened belt. if its vibration then it could be a variety of things.
just check these two
see that the crank pulley is tight
the cable that is used to open the fuel cap is easily unclipped when taking out the under-seat covers and it will vibrate under the seat pan - this happened to me and gave eactly the noise you described
kind regards jim

Jim

The noise is a rattle/vibration noise, the fuel cap release cable had come off but the noise is still there. I'm taking it back to the mechanic today so he can check his work, I'll tell him what you think it might be.

Thanks for your help

I've just fitted a new timing belt to my 2ct and I also fitted new alternator and air con pump and after a few miles I got a sreech and vibration. On checking I found that the alternator belts need reajusting once that was done ran as smooth as silk

Get yourself a copy of the manual RM025E, it has all the detail. Or look on the archives, it's been discussed before...
