Hallo all,,, still havnt been able to clarify the a/c idle up vacuum hose layout in my Carina, which is annoying as its quite hot here in nz now. Will wait till I can put my head under the hood of the same model. However,,,,Just purchased a 2c low roof townie, not sure of the temp sender location? Temp guage keeps falling to cold... Also, diff is whining a little. Looks like some seepage around filler/drain. Will drain/replace fluid and fix seepage with locktite or thread seal tape. Any ideas to mitigate whine? thicker oils/additives? Also, previous owner has overfilled auto transmission by 20mm(3/4") on the stick. It is very clean fluid. Is this a problem? If so,how should I remove excess trany fluid. Cheers Gentlemen

Temp sender is in the same place as every other C-series, on the head under the inlet...

Diff try some drop in agent, Molyslip/STP or indeed any major oil company, make axle/gear oil enhancers.
Are you checking the auto fluid hot with the engine running? If still too high sump nut under the center of the tranny will let some out.

frank, most diff whines on townies are the wheels brgs, its because they have tubular half shaft housings that the noise transmits (high pitched vibration whine starting at about 40 mph).
jack it up and spin the wheels while listening and try and see if it feels rough to spin
take the wheels off then the brake hubs, remove the 4 bolts throught the aperture and you can pull off the half shafts with the aid of a slide hammer, you will prob see rusty oil coming out of the bearing like i did
if it is this e mail me again as you will need a very long tube and a 10 ton press.
