(Home) electrics

Hi
bus has been off road for the winter. started her up today & alot of the electrics are out.

Lights were fine, as was the radio, but no wipers, indicators, immobilizer.

First thoughts are a fuze, are they situated behind the cool box and how can I tell which maybe faulty?

Thats assuming there isn't a more logical explanation!

Umm, if the immobiliser wasn't getting power, how did you start it?

I'd look at the fusible links beside the battery, followed by the ignition switch and the fusible links under the drivers seat, in that order. Probably a corroded one beside the battery tho, considering...

Dave

I don't know. Normally I would insert & turn key, then wave little black thing over sensor on steering column.
This would trigger all the dash/ignition lights to come on.

This doesn't seem to be happening. I turn key and the only light is the red ignition light, nothing else.
Even if I put the bus lights on, there are no dash lights to confirm they are on.

Most strange!

But it's running? Bizarre. Still reckon a corroded fusible link tho.

The popular arrangement is for the fuses for wipers, indicators, aircon, defog and "gauges" to come off the same switched feed from the ign switch. That is fed from the same fusible link as the radio and cigar lighter.

If your cigar lighter is working, as well as the radio, and the aircin and rear screen defogger are not, then this would point to a bad connection at the ign switch.

Thanks Dave & Dave,
Simple matter of the positive lead to the battery a bit dry. Wiggled it about and bingo, all lights back up!
Wish everything was as easy to fix!
