(Home) non starter

hi all , looking for some help..
just brought a surface turbo diesel as a non starter. its just had the head gasket changed and the person that changed it could not get it started..
ive had a little play today and put the timing back in its correct possition, re-wired the glowplug wiring.
there are a couple of problems i cannot seem to sort out.
1-- the glowplug wiring--with it disconnected i get normal voltage on the wiring , but when its connected to the glowplugs it shorts to earth giving no voltage reading, i have found the small relay in engine compartment and traced the continunety all ok.. the second relay which is the bigger one..i cannot find.
where is it and could this be the problem??

2--- after checking everything i can think of in desperation i pulled the injectors out ..oops 3 of the 4 are blocked and the other is just dripping fuel when under pressure....
are injectors a common problem with these and wheres the cheapest place to get some???

many thanks
Ian

The other relay is in the "B"pillar on the left. Although I'll warrant it's OK and you've still got a wiring issue- are all the insulators in place at the gp resistor and at the terminal atop the manifold?

Injectors? Reckon on about £150 for a set of four nozzles installed on your bodies by your local diesel specialist. If you're stuck I've a set of known good secondhand, drop me an email.
But I'd be very surprised to see all four going down simultaneously. Is there plenty of fuel coming out of the injector pipes if you crank with them disconnected? Has the pump been bled? Is the stop solenoid connected and functioning?

thanks for the reply dave
i think i might have found the problem by looking at the archives,, it might be that the earth wires have been connected to gp resister instead of pipe clamp. as the ace is 30 miles away i will have to check later..
as for injectors, i have plenty of fuel at all pipes , but with injectors connected to presure pump 3 are totally blocked and the 4th just dribbles,
this is the first time i have seen this in 30 years of dabbling...
i do not know the total history of the ace or why the head gasket was changed to start with, maybe injectors faulty and wrongly diagnosed by someone..
will have to wait till next week and i will try it again and let you know
thanks
Ian
