(Home) head gasket

had my cam belt done some two months ago, had a bit of bubbling in the bottle, but no overheating. flushed the whole system, replaced the rad cap with the float one, heater not always operative, some overheating but by and large no problems except intermittant heater and bubbling in bottle. took the cap off and ran engine only to be greated with foam from the rad neck. no exhaust smell, just anti freeze, but foam, what happened to bubbles.i'm loath to go head gasket in case it's just air trapped in the system. any guidence appreciated.

hi
ive had the head gasket go, and needed the head skimming (not unusual),
but if it warps outside of tolerance you cant get it skimmed so it will be a new head, so if you do suspect its the head gasket ,fixing it sooner rather than later will save in the long run.
if you fire up from cold and soon get fairly violent bubbling in the expansion tank ,it would be more likely head gasket leak than trapped air in the system or a boiling up situation , cold heater is a usual sign, because of the air trap in the matrix.
if youve gone through the process of topping up a few times i would unfortunately assume the worst.

sounds like most townace head gaskets go in the end.
also heard hi lux surf do the same, my mate just spent
£800 on a new head and £500 labour on one!!
mine blew off the heater pipes to the rear heater,
so it went quickly in a bad way.
best of luck
